In 1950, the world was introduced to the Volkswagen Type 2, better known as the Volkswagen Bus or “Microbus.” It was the second vehicle ever produced by Volkswagen, following the iconic Beetle, and became an instant symbol of utility and freedom.
With its distinctive boxy design, spacious interior, and versatile configurations, the VW Bus became a favorite among families, businesses, and eventually, the counterculture movement of the 1960s. Its enduring popularity earned it nicknames like the “Hippie Van,” and it remains a beloved automotive icon to this day.
