FORD COMMERCIAL

1947-1951

Ford introduced the F-Series, also known as the “Bonus Built” trucks, which were the company’s first post-war truck lineup. The F-Series ranged from light-duty pickups to heavy-duty commercial trucks, marking the beginning of the legendary F-Series that continues to this day.

The 1948 F-Series trucks were the first to be offered with a dedicated truck chassis, rather than adapting car platforms. They featured a more spacious cab, improved suspension, and greater durability, making them a hit among both farmers and businesses. The F-Series quickly became a cornerstone of Ford’s commercial success and remains the best-selling truck line in the U.S.
